Image manipulation proposial

 Summary of project-

Combing photos of myself and plants to create strange and morbid images. Inspired by the work of Rosie Hardy and Lindsay Byrnes

Background research/ Visual inspiration-

When researching for my project I first looked at photographers who produce visually interesting work. The two photographers that I focused on were Rosie Hardy and Lindsay Byrnes. 

Rosie Hardy

 Rosie Hardy use image manipulation to create visually interesting images with a variety of different creative elements. Much of her work focuses on fantastical elements that she creates through the use of image manipulation. She often combines natural and unnatural elements in her work. I like Rosie’s work because of how she takes simple photos and transforms them into something completely different. A lot of her work focuses on herself, giving it a very personal feeling, which is something I would like to emulate in my own work

  

Lindsey Byrnes

Lindsay Byrnes is a photographer who typically works with celebrities. Her work often focuses on bright colours and interesting uses of props. She often incorporates floral elements in her work. Lindsey uses strong colours and lighting to add dimension to her portraits. There is also a personal element to many of her portraits as a good portion of them exclusively focus on the subject of the portrait with minimal background elements.

  

I began to think of how I could combine the various elements of each of these photographers work to create interesting images. I came up with the idea of combing Rosie Hardy’s use of image production to create fantastical images and Lindsey Byrnes’ use of props and bright colours to create floral inspired pieces. I intend on using Image manipulation to combine photos of myself with flowers and plants.

I want these images to subvert the idea of flowers being beautiful by making uncomfortable and scary photos with them. I would like to emulate body horror with these portraits by making it look like flowers are sprouting out of my body.
